Expansion with constant rate
The expanding universe is represented by a rubber band. The galaxies are kind of fixed to this band and drift apart with its expansion. Any motion with respect to the rubber band would be christened peculiar.When the expansion rate is constant, we find a horizon: The photon is represented by the caterpillar. It moves with constant velocity, but can never reach the flower when he is too distant. Here, the flower is just on the horizon of the caterpillar. If it could a little bit accelerate, it would reach the flower. When it gets tired, the expansion will let him drift away.
Ein Gummiband spielt expandierendes Universum. Die Galaxien kann man sich auf dem Band festgetackert vorstellen. Sie driften auseinander, ohne sich deutlich auf dem Band zu bewegen (Bewegung auf dem Band ist Peculiarbewegung). Die Raupe spielt Photon konstanter Geschwindigkeit. In passendem Abstand ist die Blume gerade unerreichbar, eben auf dem Horizont des Photons.
